GCSE maths resit planner
A resit is won by precision, not volume: most students are 10-25 marks short, and those marks live in three or four topics. This planner finds them in week one and schedules the rebuild across six weeks, ending on timed full papers.
Week 1: diagnose
- Sit one full past paper, timed, all three papers split across days
- Mark with the real scheme; list lost marks by topic
- Circle the three topics worth the most recoverable marks
Weeks 2-4: rebuild
- Two 40-minute sessions per week on the circled topics
- Ten minutes of arithmetic drills daily for the non-calculator paper
- One exam question per topic, marked and rewritten
Weeks 5-6: perform
- One full timed paper per week under exam conditions
- Error-log review after every paper; red topics get double time
- Final week: formula recall, sleep, equipment - no new topics
Tutor tip: Resits reward focus over feelings. If the diagnostic shows gaps wider than a term can close, weekly one-to-one tutoring compresses the timeline honestly.
