4 min read ยท updated 2026-10-03
The summer 2027 GCSE exams start on Monday 10 May and the last GCSE paper is on Friday 18 June. Here are the key dates from the JCQ common timetable, and how to use them.
Key dates
- โ Monday 10 May 2027: the first exams of the summer series
- โ Friday 18 June 2027: the last GCSE exam
- โ Wednesday 23 June 2027: contingency day, kept free in case of national disruption
- โ Thursday 19 August 2027: GCSE results day
Finding your own timetable
Each exam board (AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR) publishes subject dates on the JCQ common timetable, and schools give students personal timetables in the spring. Students should stay available until the contingency day.
Planning revision
Work backwards from each paper: full timed papers in the week before it, and lighter review in the gaps. Maths and English papers are usually spread across several weeks, so revision should be too.
