Online chemistry tutoring
Most chemistry grades turn on calculations (moles, concentrations, yields) and on explaining why: why a structure has a high melting point, why a reaction goes faster when hot. Our chemistry specialists teach both through exam questions from your child's own board.
Online - every exam board
What every programme includes
- โ Atomic structure, bonding and the periodic table
- โ Quantitative chemistry: moles, concentration and yield
- โ Rates, equilibrium and energy changes
- โ Organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms
- โ Chemical analysis and the required practicals
- โ Balancing equations and six-mark explanations

Chemistry at every level we teach
At GCSE, AQA Chemistry (8462) is examined in two papers of 1 hour 45 minutes, each worth 100 marks and 50% of the grade. Students also complete eight required practicals, and the written papers ask about them.
A-Level, IB and AP Chemistry go deeper into energetics, kinetics, equilibria and organic mechanisms. At university, physical chemistry adds thermodynamics and quantum chemistry, where the mathematics is often the real obstacle.
Where students lose chemistry marks
The same few skills decide the grade at every level, so tutors practise them in nearly every class.
- โ Moles calculations set out step by step, with units
- โ Balanced equations, including ionic and half equations
- โ Explaining properties from structure and bonding
- โ Reading graphs and data from practical work

Foundation and Higher tier. Eight required practicals are assessed through questions in the written papers.
A typical term of chemistry tutoring
- 1
Weeks 1-2
Diagnostic, with a close look at calculations and equation writing.
- 2
Weeks 3-8
One topic a week, finishing each class with timed exam questions.
- 3
Weeks 9-10
Required practicals: method, variables and the data questions.
- 4
Weeks 11-12
A timed paper section, marked against the mark scheme.

Common questions
Which chemistry courses do you teach?๏ผ
GCSE and IGCSE, A-Level, IB, AP Chemistry, Australian and New Zealand senior chemistry, and first- and second-year university chemistry.
How many required practicals are there in GCSE Chemistry?๏ผ
Eight in AQA GCSE Chemistry. Students need to know the method and how to analyse the results, because exam questions are set on them.
My child struggles with moles. Is that normal?๏ผ
Very. Moles calculations are the most common sticking point, and a tutor can set out a step-by-step method and practise it until it is automatic.
Can you help with organic mechanisms at A-Level or university?๏ผ
Yes. Tutors teach mechanisms as a small set of patterns (curly arrows from electron pairs) rather than a list to memorise.
Is there a free trial?๏ผ
Yes. Two free 30-minute demo classes, with no card needed.
