University and college tutoring
The jump from school to university is mostly a jump in pace: a term's lectures can cover what a school course spreads over a year. A tutor who knows the subject at degree level helps you understand the lectures, work through problem sheets yourself, and revise for exams.

What a university tutor does, and does not do
Sessions follow your module: we go through the week's lectures, rework the examples, and practise the methods on similar problems so you can do the problem sheet on your own.
We teach the ideas and the methods; we never write or complete assessed work. Since April 2022 it has been a criminal offence in England to provide or advertise paid essay-writing and other cheating services to students, and universities treat contract cheating as serious misconduct.
Who it is for
First-year students bridging the gap from A-Level, IB or high school; students resitting a module; mature and part-time learners returning to study; and students on degrees where maths or statistics is a required module.
- ✓ Engineering, physics and chemistry undergraduates
- ✓ Economics, business and psychology students with statistics modules
- ✓ Foundation-year and access-course students
- ✓ Adult learners returning to study
How degrees are graded in the UK
UK honours degrees are classified from a weighted average of module marks, usually across the final two years. A tutor helps most in the modules that count, and in the exam technique that turns understanding into marks.
UK degree classifications
| Class | Final weighted average |
|---|---|
| First | 70% and above |
| Upper second (2:1) | 60% to 69% |
| Lower second (2:2) | 50% to 59% |
| Third | 40% to 49% |
Boundaries as published by UK universities such as Loughborough; each university sets its own rules on borderlines and which years count.

Common questions
Which university subjects do you tutor?+
Maths, physics, chemistry, statistics and economics are the most requested, mainly at first- and second-year level. Tell us your module when you book and we match a tutor with that background.
Will a tutor do my assignment or coursework?+
No. Tutors teach the ideas and methods so you can do the work yourself. Providing paid cheating services has been a criminal offence in England since April 2022.
Can you help me prepare for a resit?+
Yes. Tutors start from the past exam paper and the feedback you received, and plan the weeks to the resit around them.
I am an adult learner. Is this for me?+
Yes. We teach adults on access courses, foundation years, part-time degrees and professional qualifications that need maths or statistics.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Two free 30-minute demo classes, so you can check the tutor knows your module.
