The UCAT ANZ

The UCAT ANZ is the admissions test used by Australian and New Zealand universities for medicine, dentistry and some clinical sciences. Its content is the same as the UK UCAT, but the timetable is earlier and results only count for the following year's entry.
2026 dates (for 2027 entry)
- โ 16 February 2026: concession scheme and access arrangements open
- โ 3 March 2026: booking opens
- โ 15 May 2026: booking deadline (late booking to 29 May, final late booking to 5 June)
- โ 1 July to 5 August 2026: testing window
- โ Early September 2026: results delivered to universities
Fees (Australian dollars)
- โ A$335 for tests in Australia or New Zealand; A$240 with the Australian concession
- โ A$405 for tests taken overseas
- โ Late fee A$85; final late fee A$185
Which universities use it
In Australia, universities including Monash, UNSW, the University of Queensland (provisional entry pathways), Adelaide, Flinders, Curtin, Western Sydney, Tasmania, Charles Sturt, Newcastle/New England and Western Australia use it for medicine, dentistry or related courses. In New Zealand, the University of Auckland and the University of Otago use it. Check each course: some pathways don't require it.
The test
Four subtests in just under two hours: Verbal Reasoning (44 questions, 22 minutes), Decision Making (35, 37 minutes), Quantitative Reasoning (36, 26 minutes) and Situational Judgement (69, 26 minutes). The three cognitive subtests are scored 300-900 each; Situational Judgement is reported in Bands 1-4.
Results are valid for one year only, and candidates can't sit both the UCAT ANZ and the UK UCAT in the same year. Applicants to both regions sit the UCAT ANZ.
