- ✓ Free response (50%): 7 questions in 1 hour 45 minutes: 3 long (10 points each) and 4 short (4 points each)
Where to pick up points
- ✓ The three long free-response questions are worth 30 of the 46 free-response points
- ✓ Show units and significant figures in calculations, and explain using particle-level reasoning
- ✓ Practise data and lab-design questions as well as calculations
- ✓ Know equilibrium, acid-base and thermodynamics links: they appear across both sections
How AP scores are calculated
Your raw results in each section are weighted and added into a composite score, which College Board converts to the 1-5 scale. The cut-offs are set for each exam every year so that a score means the same standard, and they aren't published. Use your weighted score to track progress between practice exams and to see which section costs you most.
