What is the difference between AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C?＋
Physics 1 and 2 are algebra-based surveys; Physics C is calculus-based and split into two shorter exams (Mechanics, and Electricity & Magnetism). Engineering-bound students usually take Physics C; the tutoring adjusts the maths depth accordingly.
My child understands class but fails the FRQs. Why?＋
FRQs reward a specific structure: a clear diagram, equations in symbols before substitution, and answers that address the rubric line by line. We grade practice FRQs against the released rubrics so your child sees exactly where points went missing.
Is Physics 1 or Physics C better for engineering applicants?＋
Many engineering programmes prefer Physics C because it matches calculus-based first-year courses, but admissions guidance varies by university. Check target programmes first; a 5 in Physics 1 still beats an overreached 3 in C.
Should my child take Physics C without calculus?＋
Usually no. Physics C assumes calculus fluency. Discuss prerequisites with the school counsellor before committing.
When should AP Physics tutoring start?＋
Ideally from the first unit assessments, not only in April. A 3–4 month runway before the exam is the minimum for big jumps.
