How it is assessed

English Language follows the 2024-2028 study design and is assessed through Unit 3 and Unit 4 school-assessed coursework and an end-of-year examination, typically with an analytical commentary and an essay.

Scaling and the ATAR

In 2025, English Language had a scaled mean of 32.6. A study score of 30 scaled to 33 and a 40 to 43, above English (28 and 39).

Where marks are lost
