5 min read · updated 2026-10-13

Warwickshire County Council runs registration for the 11+ used by the county's grammar schools. Children register in Year 5 and sit the test at the start of Year 6.

Dates for September 2027 entry

✓ 8 May 2026: registration opened with Warwickshire County Council
✓ 4pm on Monday 30 June 2026: registration deadline; later registrations are not on time
✓ 12 and 13 September 2026: test
✓ October 2026: results, before the 31 October application deadline

After the result

Reaching the qualifying score makes a child eligible, but each grammar school allocates places by its own admission criteria, often including distance or priority areas. Read each school's admission arrangements, and name schools on your home council's application in true order of preference.

Preparing

✓ Spring of Year 5: check which schools and priority areas apply to you, and register on time
✓ Summer: timed practice in the test's format and steady reading
✓ September: short timed sets and plenty of rest

For September 2028 entry

Based on the 2026 pattern, expect registration to open in early May 2027 and close at the end of June, with tests in mid-September 2027 and results in October.
