What's in this module
The 27 questions cover all four content domains in roughly equal measure: Craft and Structure (words in context, text structure and purpose, and a paired-text question), Information and Ideas (main ideas, evidence including data, and inferences), Standard English Conventions (sentence boundaries, agreement, tense and punctuation), and Expression of Ideas (transitions and student-notes questions).
The real test is adaptive, so how you do on the first module decides the difficulty of the second. A single practice module can't adapt, so treat this as a check of the first module's range.
Quick wins for Reading and Writing
Conventions and transitions questions follow fixed rules, so they're the fastest place to gain points: learn when a semicolon, colon or comma is needed, and identify the relationship (contrast, cause, example, time) before looking at transition choices.
- ā For student-notes questions, find the goal in the question first, then pick the choice that meets that goal and nothing else
- ā For words in context, predict your own word from the clues before looking at the options
- ā For inference questions, choose the conclusion the text supports, not the most dramatic one
FAQs
Are these official SAT questions?ļ¼
No. They were written by EagleTeach tutors in the style of the digital SAT. The College Board's full-length practice tests in the Bluebook app give a scaled score and should be part of any preparation.
How many questions are in an SAT Reading and Writing module?ļ¼
The section has 54 questions in 64 minutes, in two equal 32-minute modules of 27 questions each.
How long are the passages on the digital SAT?ļ¼
Between 25 and 150 words, according to the College Board, and each passage (or pair of passages) has a single question.
Can I convert this score to an SAT score?ļ¼
No. SAT scores are scaled using each question's difficulty and the adaptive second module, so a raw score on one practice module can't be converted. Use the domain breakdown to decide what to work on.
