MYP Personal Project planner
The MYP Personal Project is graded on the process as much as the product - which means a planned project outscores a brilliant improvisation. This planner walks the timeline: a defensible goal, criterion-mapped milestones and journal checkpoints so the report writes itself at the end.
Week 1: define (Criterion A)
- Write the learning goal and the product goal, separately
- List prior learning that makes the goal realistic
- Draft success criteria you will assess against later
Weekly: the process journal (Criterion B)
- One dated entry per week: what I did, what I learned, what is next
- Screenshot or photograph evidence as you go, not at the end
- Note every change of plan - pivots earn marks when documented
Final month: product and report (Criteria C and D)
- Product finished early enough to evaluate it honestly
- Report: goal, criteria, process highlights, evaluation against your own criteria
- Evidence referenced throughout - the report argues with the journal, not from memory
Tutor tip: The rubric rewards process evidence over perfection. If the project needs a supervisor's push each week, that is exactly the accountability our MYP tutors provide.
