What is the IB MYP?

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is the International Baccalaureate's framework for students aged 11-16, run by many international schools in Dubai, the Gulf and worldwide as preparation for the IB Diploma.
Structure and subjects
MYP students study eight subject groups: language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design. Learning is connected through interdisciplinary units and a capstone personal project in the final year.
Assessment: criteria, not rankings
MYP assessment is criterion-based: teachers assess against published IB objectives in each subject, with optional on-screen eAssessment in the final year for an IB-validated certificate. There are no league-table rankings within the programme, which suits sustained skill-building.

MYP builds the research, writing and self-management habits the Diploma Programme demands. Students arriving at the DP from the MYP typically handle its workload faster than students arriving from exam-only systems.
