In Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has 220 private schools, according to ADEK, the emirate's education regulator, teaching British, American, IB, Indian, Ministry and other curricula.

IGCSE students choose between English as a First Language and English as a Second Language; IB students sit English A papers and an individual oral.

How it is assessed

Under the 2027-2029 syllabus, Cambridge IGCSE ESL (0510) is Reading and Writing (70%) and Listening (30%), with speaking endorsed separately. IB English A combines Paper 1, Paper 2 and the individual oral, plus an essay at HL.
