In Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has 220 private schools, according to ADEK, the emirate's education regulator, teaching British, American, IB, Indian, Ministry and other curricula.

IB Diploma students take six subjects, three or four at HL, plus TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS, for a maximum of 45 points; the May 2026 global average was 30.88.

How it is assessed

The Diploma requires at least 24 points, no grade 1, no more than two grade 2s, at least 12 HL and 9 SL points, no E in TOK or the Extended Essay, and CAS completed. Internal assessments count for 20-30% in most subjects.
