How GCSE Biology is examined

AQA GCSE Biology (8461) has two papers of 1 hour 45 minutes, each worth 100 marks and 50% of the grade, at Foundation and Higher tier. Paper 1 covers cells, organisation, infection and bioenergetics; Paper 2 covers homeostasis, inheritance and ecology.

Students complete ten required practicals in school, and the papers ask about their methods and results.

What our tutors focus on

The content is learnable; the marks are in using it. Tutors spend most of each class on exam questions after a short teaching section.
