IB Computer Science was redesigned for students who began the Diploma in 2025, with first exams in May 2027. The options and Paper 3 are gone, and programming carries more weight. Our tutors teach the new course and the IA from planning to the final video.

How it is assessed
At SL, Paper 1 (1 hour 15 minutes) and Paper 2 (1 hour 15 minutes) are worth 35% each and the internal assessment 30%. At HL, Papers 1 and 2 last 2 hours each and are worth 40% apiece, with the IA at 20%. Paper 1 covers Theme A and questions on the case study released in advance; Paper 2 tests computational thinking and programming.
The IA is a computational solution with documentation of up to 2,000 words and a video.
Where marks are lost
Marked work shows the same patterns year after year:
- โ Tracing and reading code accurately under time pressure
- โ Pseudocode or code answers with logic gaps
- โ Case study vocabulary learnt without understanding
- โ An IA solution too ambitious to finish and document
- โ OOP concepts described but not applied (HL)
