How A-Level English Language is assessed
AQA A-Level English Language (7702) has two 2 hour 30 minute exams, each worth 100 marks and 40% of the A-Level, and a non-exam assessment worth 20%.
Paper 1 tests textual variations and representations, and children's language development. Paper 2 tests language diversity and change, and language discourses.
The NEA, done properly
The NEA has two parts: a language investigation of about 2,000 words (excluding data) and a piece of original writing with a commentary, about 1,500 words together. It's marked by your child's teachers and moderated by the board.
Tutors help choose a workable investigation question, plan data collection and analysis, and give feedback in line with the board's rules. The writing is always your child's own.
