How A-Level Geography is assessed

AQA A-Level Geography (7037) has a physical geography paper and a human geography paper, each 2 hours 30 minutes, 120 marks and 40%, plus a fieldwork investigation worth 20%.

Physical geography covers water and carbon cycles, then one landscape option (hot deserts, coasts or glaciation) and one of hazards or ecosystems under stress. Human geography covers global systems and governance and changing places, then one of urban environments, population and the environment, or resource security.

The fieldwork investigation

The NEA is an individual investigation of 3,000 to 4,000 words, worth 60 marks, using data your child collects in the field. Tutors help frame a question that can be answered with the data and plan the statistical analysis.
