IGCSE and GCSE tutoring for Dubai students

Dubai's British-curriculum schools sit Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSEs, often with different exam series than UK schools. Our tutors teach the exact syllabus codes your child is enrolled in, with past papers from your school's series.

Dubai's biggest curriculum

The UK curriculum is the most popular choice in Dubai. In 2024-25 it accounted for 37% of pupils in the emirate's private schools, across 90 British-curriculum schools. Students in these schools usually sit IGCSEs at the end of Year 11: Cambridge is the most common board, and some schools use Pearson Edexcel, sometimes alongside Cambridge.

Why the board and syllabus code matter

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel papers differ in structure, question style and mark scheme even in the same subject. In maths, for example, Cambridge 0580 has a non-calculator paper at each tier, while both Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 papers allow a calculator. Practising the wrong board's papers wastes revision time, so we start from the syllabus code on your child's timetable.

Where IGCSE grades slip in Year 11

These are the problems we see most often in Dubai students' mock papers:

Which qualification is your child sitting?

QualificationGradingMaths tiersExam series
Cambridge IGCSEA* to G (9-1 versions of some subjects)Core or ExtendedMay/June and October/November (plus March in India)
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE9 to 1Foundation or HigherMay/June and November
UK GCSE (AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR)9 to 1Foundation or HigherMay/June, with November resits in English and maths only

The board and syllabus code for each subject are on your child's timetable or exam entry list.

Common questions

Our school does IGCSE, not GCSE. Does that matter?๏ผ‹

It matters for the past papers, which is why we ask for the syllabus code. Sessions then follow the exact IGCSE specification your school entered you for.

Can you help with mock exams at Dubai schools?๏ผ‹

Yes, mocks are the highest-stakes school assessment: sessions target the mock specification and mark practice against the scheme.

Which IGCSE board do Dubai schools use?๏ผ‹

Cambridge is the most common, and some schools use Pearson Edexcel, sometimes alongside Cambridge for different subjects. Your child's timetable or exam entry list shows the board and syllabus code for each subject.

When are IGCSE results released?๏ผ‹

Results for the May/June series come out in August. Cambridge's October/November results follow in January.

Can a student resit an IGCSE in the autumn?๏ผ‹

Yes. Cambridge runs an October/November series and Pearson Edexcel a November series for International GCSEs, so a student can resit a few months after the summer results.

Can we switch between GCSE and IGCSE mid-year?๏ผ‹

Almost never: content and assessment structure differ. Confirm with the school which qualification and board your child is entered for, then tell us so every session uses the right papers.
