University maths tutoring
University maths changes from calculating answers to proving why they are true, and it moves fast. A tutor with a maths degree takes you back through each lecture, shows how the definitions and theorems fit together, and practises the methods until you can do the problem sheets on your own.
Online - undergraduate maths
What every programme includes
- โ Calculus of one and several variables
- โ Linear algebra: vectors, matrices, eigenvalues
- โ Ordinary and partial differential equations
- โ Proof: induction, contradiction and epsilon-delta
- โ Probability and statistics
- โ Maths modules for engineering, physics and economics
Lesson times in your time zone
Weekdays 3pm-9pm after school ยท Weekends 8am-8pm, your local time. Pick the slot when you book.
Why first-year maths feels so different
At school you were marked on getting the right answer. At university, many marks are for a correct, clearly written argument. Tutors teach how to read a definition, how to start a proof, and how to check each line follows from the last.
- โ Rewriting lecture proofs in your own words
- โ Spotting which theorem a problem is asking for
- โ Writing solutions examiners can follow
- โ Building a weekly routine that keeps pace with lectures
Maths for other degrees
Engineering, physics, chemistry and economics students meet the same calculus, linear algebra and statistics, applied to their subject. Tutors teach the method through your own course's examples.
We teach the ideas and the methods; we never write or complete assessed work. Since April 2022 it has been a criminal offence in England to provide or advertise paid essay-writing and other cheating services to students, and universities treat contract cheating as serious misconduct.

A typical term of university maths tutoring
- 1
Week 1
Read the module outline together and pick the topics to prioritise.
- 2
Weekly
Rework the lecture, then practise similar problems before the sheet is due.
- 3
Mid-term
A check on proofs and methods so far, and a fix for any gaps.
- 4

Common questions
Do your tutors have maths degrees?๏ผ
University maths sessions are taught by tutors with a degree in mathematics or a closely related subject. Tell us your module when you book.
Can you help with proofs?๏ผ
Yes. Proof is the most common reason students ask for help, and tutors teach it step by step on examples from your own course.
Will you solve my problem sheet?๏ผ
No. Tutors teach the method on similar problems so you can solve the sheet yourself.
I study engineering. Is this for me?๏ผ
Yes. We regularly help engineering, physics and economics students with their maths modules.
Can I try a session first?๏ผ
Yes. Two free 30-minute demo classes.
