University physics tutoring
Undergraduate physics is where the mathematics takes over: vector calculus for electromagnetism, differential equations for oscillations, linear algebra for quantum mechanics. A physics graduate tutor helps you see the physics behind the maths and work problems through on your own.
Online - undergraduate physics
What every programme includes
- โ Classical mechanics and oscillations
- โ Electromagnetism and vector calculus
- โ Waves and optics
- โ Thermodynamics and statistical physics
- โ Introductory quantum mechanics
- โ Lab reports: error analysis and data handling
Lesson times in your time zone
Weekdays 3pm-9pm after school ยท Weekends 8am-8pm, your local time. Pick the slot when you book.
How we teach university physics
Each session starts from your lecture notes: what the derivation is doing, which approximation it makes, and when the result applies. Then you work a similar problem with the tutor watching your method, so the problem sheet becomes yours to do.
We teach the ideas and the methods; we never write or complete assessed work. Since April 2022 it has been a criminal offence in England to provide or advertise paid essay-writing and other cheating services to students, and universities treat contract cheating as serious misconduct.
- โ Derivations followed line by line
- โ Physical intuition before the algebra
- โ Estimation and checking units and limits
- โ Error analysis for lab work

A typical term of university physics tutoring
- 1
Week 1
Review the module outline and the maths it assumes.
- 2
Weekly
Lecture derivations explained, then similar problems worked by you.
- 3
Lab weeks
Uncertainty, graphs and how to present results clearly.
- 4
Revision
Past exam papers under time and examiner expectations.

Common questions
Which years of a physics degree do you cover?๏ผ
Mainly first and second year, plus physics modules taken by engineering and chemistry students.
Can you help with the maths in physics?๏ผ
Yes. Most physics difficulties at university are maths difficulties, and tutors teach the methods inside physics problems.
Will a tutor write my lab report?๏ผ
No. Tutors explain error analysis and presentation so you can write your own report.
Can I book around my lecture timetable?๏ผ
Yes. Choose evening or weekend slots in your own time zone.
Is there a free trial?๏ผ
Yes. Two free 30-minute demo classes.
