NCEA physics tutoring
NCEA physics rewards students who can explain a situation in words and then calculate it. Our tutors build both, from Level 1 Physics, Earth and Space Science to the Level 3 mechanics, waves and electricity externals.

Level 1: Physics, Earth and Space Science
At Level 1, physics sits inside Physics, Earth and Space Science. The internals are 92044 (human-induced change within the Earth system) and 92045 (a physical phenomenon through investigation); the externals are 92046 (the effect on the Earth of interactions between the Sun and the Earth-Moon system) and 92047 (a physical system using energy concepts). Each is worth 5 credits.
Levels 2 and 3
Level 2 and 3 Physics use the existing standards, with externals in mechanics, waves and electricity. Excellence answers combine a correct calculation with a full explanation of the physics.
A course is endorsed with Merit or Excellence when a student gains 14 or more credits at that grade in one year, including at least 3 credits from internal and 3 from external standards. A certificate is endorsed when 50 credits are at Merit or Excellence at that level or above. Externals therefore matter even for strong internal students.
NCEA is changing
NCEA is being replaced: a Foundational Award for Year 11 starts in 2028, the New Zealand Certificate of Education (NZCE) for Year 12 in 2029 and the New Zealand Advanced Certificate of Education (NZACE) for Year 13 in 2030. Students in Year 11 in 2027 or above finish on NCEA, so this year's Levels 1 to 3 still count in full.
