ISEE admissions in Los Angeles
Harvard-Westlake, for example, requires all applicants for entry in fall 2027 to take the ISEE, with results from a single test taken between 1 August 2026 and 15 January 2027, in any format, including ISEE At-Home. The school says it does not combine scores from different sittings and does not recommend repeat testing or special preparation, so families applying there should keep any practice light and focused on familiarity.

How the ISEE works
The ISEE has four scored sections (Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Mathematics Achievement) and an unscored essay sent to schools. Students can test once per season (fall, winter and spring/summer), up to three times in 12 months.
