Reading School 11+ admissions: 2027 entry
Reading School is a selective boys' grammar school with day places and weekly boarding. Its timeline is much earlier than most: registration closes in May of Year 5 and most boys sit the test in July, before Year 6.

Entry points and deadlines
150 places a year: 138 day places and 12 weekly boarding places. The education is free.
10% of places are reserved for boys with both academic ability and sporting aptitude, assessed on a separate day.
For September 2027 entry, registration ran from 27 March to midnight on 17 May 2026, with evidence for Pupil Premium, service premium, SEN or an EHCP due by 31 May.

Testing
Day and boarding applicants sat the test on Thursday 16 July 2026; SEN applicants on 15 July; day applicants living outside the catchment on Friday 25 September 2026.
The school publishes familiarisation guides for children and parents for the July test.
Results are released online in mid-October, before the council application deadline.
