Entry points and deadlines

The Published Admission Number for Year 7 in September 2027 is 180.

Boys born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 apply for September 2027; a boy can sit the test procedure only once.

Registration is the online Supplementary Information Form (SIF), which is not an application for a place. Families must also name Tiffin School on their home council's secondary application by 31 October.

The Priority Area is every home less than 10 km from the school in a straight line.

Up to 10% of places (up to 18: 9 for sport and 9 for music) can go to boys in the Priority Area who pass the aptitude assessment benchmark and score at or above the 450th-ranked combined score.

Testing

Stage One: a computer-marked test in English and maths. Scores are standardised, age-weighted and averaged to decide who is invited to Stage Two.

Stage Two: written tests in English and maths on one day in mid-November.

The Combined Score is 50% English (the Stage Two English score) and 50% maths, where the maths part combines Stage One and Stage Two in the ratio 2:3.

Looked-after and previously looked-after boys, boys eligible for pupil premium, and boys above the sport or music benchmark who live in the Priority Area get a 10% leeway on the Stage One cut-off for a Stage Two invitation.

After any EHCP place, priority goes to looked-after children and then pupil premium boys in the Priority Area whose score is at or above the 450th-ranked combined score; remaining places go by combined score to Priority Area boys, then others. Ties are broken by distance.
